The Edwin Smith Papyrus, discovered in 1862 outside of Luxor, Egypt, is “the oldest known surgical text in the history of civilisation”. It was written around the year 1700 BC, but is based on texts that go back to about 3000 BC. It's translator, Henry Breasted speculated that the original author might have been the great Egyptian physician Imhotep. The papyrus presents information in the form of “if-then” rules, so some authors have referred to it in relation to AI as a very early pre-cursor of what would now be called an "expert system". 0:00 Intro, Smith and Breasted 0:32 "Brain" as a hieroglyph, and descriptions of the brain's surface 0:56 Diagnoses are split into three classes 1:14 "if-then" rules in the papyrus, and in AI "knowledge bases" This video was made for the International Conference "Moving Forward in Unity", School of Nursing, Mae Fah Luang University. It was presented at the panel session: "Moving forward, not backward: Computers in nursing education". Many thanks for the invitation to participate! Here's a nice historical context from: 🤍 "The brain was not always held in high regard. The Greek philosopher, Aristotle, thought the heart, not the brain, was the location of intelligence and thought. The ancient Egyptians also did not think much of the brain. When creating a mummy, the Egyptians scooped out the brain through the nostrils and threw it away. However, the heart and other internal organs were removed carefully and preserved. These organs were then placed back into the body or into jars that were set next to the body." Nevertheless, the Smith Papyrus is the oldest written record using the word "brain" and provides the first written accounts of the anatomy of the brain, the meninges (coverings of the brain) and cerebrospinal fluid. #ai #thinking #日本語字幕 LINKS The image for the scientific paper appearing at the end is: 🤍 Edwin Smith portrait: Wiki Commons 🤍 James Henry Breasted: Wiki Commons 🤍 Page from Edwin Smith Papyrus: 🤍 Page from Breasted book: 🤍 Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license Soundtrack: audioblocks, middle eastern arabic background cinematic music Other visuals, storyblocks.org & canva.com ► Support the channel Like: Give a 👍 to this video (thanks!) PLAY UNDERTALE 🤍 After finally playing through this life-changing game over the last couple months, I became an instant fan and was inspired to make a short cartoon based on its world and characters. When trying to come up with a simple idea, I was reminded of Papyrus' distaste for grease...thus, I imagined his first (and perhaps only) time going to Grillby's with his brother Sans. For the animation, I wanted to try some experimental stuff by going back to my roots of puppeted-animation and MS Paint graphics, combined with the traditional skills I have now. Had lots of help with the sound, music and voices too, so thanks to everyone who helped inspire this and who helped make it happen! ENJOY, HUMANS. In this video, we will be discussing the Tulli Papyrus which is recognized by some as the first ever recorded written accounts of an Alien or a UFO encounter. We will also discuss the theory that the Pyramids were built with the help of an extraterrestrial species. Is the idea of Aliens helping the Ancient Egyptians just a made up story or did they really have encounter Aliens? I have used multiple resources in my research as there was not a lot of information on this topic. Here are the citations that I was inspired by the most while creating this video: 🤍 🤍 🤍
The Ebers Papyrus, also known as Papyrus Ebers, is an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge dating to circa 1550 BC. Among the oldest and most important medical papyri of ancient Egypt, it was purchased at Luxor in the winter of 1873–74 by Georg Ebers. It is currently kept at the library of the University of Leipzig, in Germany.

For more information visit 🤍 Papyrus (pronounced /pəˈpaɪrəs/) is a thick paper-like material produced from the pith of the papyrus plant, Cyperus papyrus,[1] a wetland sedge that was once abundant in the Nile Delta of Egypt. Papyrus usually grow 23 meters (59 ft) tall. Papyrus is first known to have been used in ancient Egypt (at least as far back as the First dynasty), but it was also used throughout the Mediterranean region. Ancient Egypt used this plant for boats, mattresses, mats, and paper. Papyrus was first manufactured in Egypt as far back as the third millennium BC.[2] In the first centuries BC and AD, papyrus scrolls gained a rival as a writing surface in the form of parchment, which was prepared from animal skins.[3] Sheets of parchment were folded to form quires from which book-form codices were fashioned. Early Christian writers soon adopted the codex form, and in the Græco-Roman world it became common to cut sheets from papyrus rolls in order to form codices. Codices were an improvement on the papyrus scroll as the papyrus was not strong enough to fold without cracking and a long roll, or scroll, was required to create large volume texts. Papyrus had the advantage of being relatively cheap and easy to produce, but it was fragile and susceptible to both moisture and excessive dryness. Unless the papyrus was of good quality, the writing surface was irregular, and the range of media that could be used was also limited. By CE 800 the use of parchment and vellum had replaced papyrus in many areas, though its use in Egypt continued until it was replaced by more inexpensive paper introduced by Arabs. The reasons for this switch include the significantly higher durability of the hide-derived materials, particularly in moist climates, and the fact that they can be manufactured anywhere. The latest certain dates for the use of papyrus are 1057 for a papal decree (typically conservative, all papal "bulls" were on papyrus until 1022), under Pope Victor II,[4] and 1087 for an Arabic document. Papyrus was used as late as the 1100s in the Byzantine Empire, but there are no surviving examples. Although its uses had transferred to parchment, papyrus therefore just overlapped with the use of paper in Europe, which began in the 11th century. The word for the material papyrus is also used to designate documents written on sheets of it, often rolled up into scrolls. The plural for such documents is papyri. Historical papyri are given identifying names—generally the name of the discoverer, first owner or institution where it is kept—and numbered, such as "Papyrus Harris I". Often an abbreviated form is used such as "pHarris I". Info Taken from Wikipedia.com Credits to Wikipedia.com 🤍 Main
